PD House Achieves 500M in Sales for the First Half of the Year Despite Covid Fears. New Strategies Implemented to Adapt to the New Normal.

Against the various issues encountered for the first half of 2020 – the economic turndown and COVID 19 - PD House still managed to achieve their 500-million-baht target. It is anticipated that sales could increase by as much as 20% in the second half of the year due to prospective consumers who have been saving up to purchase a new home. Once the country-wide lock down has opened up, PD House will introduce an aggressive marketing plan to coincide with what has been described as the New Normal. The intention is to take over the current franchisee offices and open their Head Office in the eastern part of Bangkok.

Mr. Pisan Thammawiset, the Managing Director of Patum Design Develop Co., Ltd under the brand name PD House Home Builder Center disclosed, “The Coronavirus has had a negative effect on the overall image of the home builder’s market in the first half of 2020. Customers delayed their plans to build homes because they had lost confidence due to the virus and other related issues.

However, PD House achieved an additional 240 million baht in sales near the end of the second quarter due to the government having eased some of the lockdown measures. Prospective PD House customers carefully followed the news and as they were prepared financially, they were able to make the decision to have their homes built by a reliable builder. As a result, PD House’s sales hit 500 million baht for the first half of the year.”

“When the total number of bookings were analyzed, it was discovered that 70% of our customers are located upcountry; in central and northeast Thailand. The other 30% are all in Bangkok.”

“We also found that 50% of the house prices ranged between 4-10 million baht, 30% were in the 2-4 million-baht range and 20% exceeded 10 million baht.”

Mr. Pisan also added, “In the first half of the year, especially at the beginning of the second quarter when Covid-19 was spreading and the government initiated strict lock down measures in specific provinces like Surin, Buriram and Phuket, also significantly affected the company’s sales.”

“Furthermore, oversea prospects and foreign customers who had planned to return to Thailand during that time had to postpone their travels also causing the company lost sales. We modified our marketing strategies by penetrating those domestic customers who were ready to purchase and have a home constructed with a reliable builder.”

It is believed that after the government relaxes the lock down measures, the sales for the second half of the year will greatly increase following the measures implemented which prevented the spreading of the disease. It is expected that the sales figures will grow by 10-15% compared to the first half of the year. If Suvarnabhumi is permitted to open to international departures and arrivals and foreigners are allowed back into Thailand, the sales growth could reach 15-20%. This growth, however, can only be realistically achieved should the prospective foreign customers who have already contacted us, be allowed back into Thailand to proceed as planned choosing PD House to build their homes.”

Ms. Tiraporn Suwannasut, Marketing Director of PD House International Co., Ltd and the franchisor of PD House Home Builder Center added, “Thankfully, the company’s first half-year performance is in direct contrast to the current situation. The spreading of the virus affected everyone’s way of life and we are now part of the New Normal. People will continue to spend most of their time at home with their families. Our company will have to launch aggressive marketing strategies and the use of online channel marketing platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.”

Currently, PD House Home Builder Center has offices both in Bangkok and upcountry. All offices provide the same work standard and are well accepted by those who have had PD House build their homes previously, including government agents and related business partners. PD House is a modern management company with a solid work ethic and is socially responsible in their construction of energy efficient and environmentally friendly homes.

In the second half of 2020, the company plans to take over the franchisee offices which will create confidence among PD House customers and strengthen the financial status and competitive opportunities. All of these offices will be operated under the name of Patum Design, for example, Patum Design (Saraburi), Patum Design (Surin), Patum Design (Hua Hin) and so on. The new Head Office will also open soon in Bangkok’s eastern zone.
