Modern Style Home and Metal Sheet Roof

When discussing home designs, the important issues are based on shapes and forms. The trend for residential buildings has changed, so the design has to be in line with the needs and tastes of the customer.

There are many styles of home designs. Among them, the modern style has been well accepted by customers because the form and function of the house tends to provide satisfaction. The prominent identity of a modern style home is the flat shape of the roof. The roof is made of either concrete or metal sheet, the latter being the most popular. It is less expensive and can be designed in a curve form with the degree of slope making it less than other roofing materials. The length of the sheets is long enough to cover the entire house so the installation is quick and simple.

Metal sheet roofs refer to a roof made of a thin sheet of metal coated with an anti-rust substance and designed with ridges and grooves. The sheeting can also be used for partitioning.

Essentially, the roof sheeting is for most modern style homes because, as afore mentioned, it matches perfectly with the shape and form of the house. Currently, there are various kinds of metal sheet available in the market which has a reputation for being able to handle a large range of requirements and design options.

However, the bare thin sheets of metal are not enough to protect from the heat nor any exterior noise. Therefore, the sheets have all been coated with an insulator to provide better protection for these issues.

There are two types of coated metal roof sheeting. Firstly, PE-Foam coated sheets have been coated with Polyethylene Foam. The foam is soft and sticky and foil is used to cover it. The foam blocks exterior noise and the foil reflects the heat which protects the foam. This helps to make the house cooler and calmer in the inside.

Secondly, Polyurethane Foam coated roof sheeting is sprayed with PU Foam, also a heat protection foam. The foam can effectively minimize the increase of daytime heat by reflecting the sun’s rays. This also provides a considerable saving on energy which would be required to run the air conditioning during the day. The foam can also reduce the noise of the rain and has the ability to resist corrosion.

There are three systems for metal sheet roof installation.
1. The Screw System. The screw is driven through ridge of the sheet to the purlin which holds the sheet tight. Possible leakage through the screw holes is possible.

2. The Clip-Lock System. The connector is screwed in to connect with the purlin and the ridge of the sheeting is pressed to the connector. The screws are not visible from an overhead view although leakage through the screw holes is also possible.

3. The Seam-Lock System. The ridge of the sheeting is pressed on to the connector which is held together with the purlin. Then, the seamer is used to press the seam of each sheet together. The clip-lock system makes the roof stronger and by having no screw holes will prevent any leakage occurring.

Metal sheet roofing seems the most suitable roof for modern style homes. Furthermore, there are many types to choose from. Whichever the style, they are guaranteed to make the house look beautiful.
